Snow softened the town around us, but beneath the bridge the water was rushing with extraordinary energy. I stopped to listen to the contrast: the quiet fall of snow above us and the broad, continuous roar of the river below. I set up the Zoom F3 with my stereo pair and let the recording run while we stood there in the cold. Yes - it was deliciously cold. Snow itself is almost impossible to hear, yet it transformed the whole recording. The river became a wonderfully natural blanket of white noise. - powerful and detailed up close, but strangely calming when I stopped concentrating on its individual movements. It was one of those unplanned moments that made the day memorable. Next time I would love to move closer to the water, perhaps even lower a hydrophone into the river, and hear what this frozen mountain landscape sounds like beneath the surface. ```legio-photo-actions ``` > [!gallery] > ![[Legio Sounds/Publishing/Media/Field Notes/Zermatt - Bridge over River in heavy snow/Zermatt Bridge - Recorder.jpg|legio-photo]] > ![[Legio Sounds/Publishing/Media/Field Notes/Zermatt - Bridge over River in heavy snow/Zermatt Bridge - Main.jpg|legio-photo]] > ![[Legio Sounds/Publishing/Media/Field Notes/Zermatt - Bridge over River in heavy snow/Zermatt Bridge - River.jpg|legio-photo]] > ![[Legio Sounds/Publishing/Media/Field Notes/Zermatt - Bridge over River in heavy snow/IMG_9680.jpeg|legio-photo]]

```legio-public-constellation-preview scope: current ```
Recorded, photographed and written by Mark, from Legio Sounds Legio Sounds
