While travelling, I began paying closer attention to birds, weather, water and the landscape itself. That led me to [[Legio Sounds/Publishing/Field Notes/The Importance of Soundscapes|biophony]] and [[Legio Sounds/Publishing/Field Notes/The Importance of Soundscapes|geophony]] and to noticing how differently a place feels when we stop and listen. Legio Sounds is where I share those recordings, together with the photographs, Field Notes and stories behind them. Some come from carefully planned overnight sessions; others begin with a walk, a journey or a moment that simply feels worth noticing. > “Constantly regard the universe as one living being, having one substance and one soul.” > > — Marcus Aurelius, _Meditations_, IV.40 That thought has stayed with me. Field recording gives me a reason to step back from the noise of everyday life, pay attention to what’s in front of me and remember that I’m one small part of a much larger world. A world that breathes, just as I do. It’s a personal project and one that continues to evolve. Mostly, it’s about taking the time to listen.
