Hear its story.</p> </div> <p class="legio-home-manifesto">I record places I don’t want to forget - after the crowds have gone, beyond the road, or in those quiet hours before daylight.</p> When we stop, take a breath and really listen, the world can feel a little different. The noise of everyday life falls away, and we remember that we’re part of something larger. Sometimes, you can almost hear the world breathing. It began while I was travelling around the world to record the [Wood Fired Oven](Https://woodfiredoven.buzzsprout.com)) podcast. I found myself paying more attention to the sounds around me: birds waking in the trees, wind moving through grass, waves against stone and the background sound of a place going about its day. Before long, I was reading about biophony and geophony, and trying to capture those sounds for myself. Legio Sounds is a collection of moments from my travels. Each Field Note brings together a recording, photographs and the story of the place where it was made. Sometimes I also write about recording techniques I’ve learned along the way, or equipment I’m building and experimenting with.
